maybe it was the fact that today was overcast with a hint of dust storm, or maybe it was the fact that it is supposed to be snowy/rainy tomorrow, or some other melancholic scenario involving weather. whatever the reason, today i listened to a very awesome, melancholy playlist filled with the angst riddenest groups out there. my day started out with a little kalai, who isn't very depressing at all, but quickly moved on from there. here is my playlist from today:
- Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries (the whole album)
- The Cure - Boys Don't Cry (i blame this one on claire)
- The Cure - Close to Me
- The Smiths - How Soon is Now?
- Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
- Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees
- Bloc Party - Banquet
- Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime
- Radiohead - Paranoid Android
- Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
- The Cure - Love Song
- The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It
- The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
- David Bowie - Heroes
- Radiohead - All I Need
- INXS - I Need You Tonight
- Coldplay - Trouble
- Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
- Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma (k, so this one doesn't fit the motif, but what the hey)
- The Shins - New Slang
- Talking Heads - Burning Down the House
- The Smiths - This Charming Man
- Feist - My Moon My Man
- The Cure - Lullaby
- The Arcade Fire - Rebellion(Lies) (i can't listen to more than a few of arcade fire's songs at a time, but sometimes they hit the spot)
- Smashing Pumpkins - Today
- David Bowie - Life on Mars?
that's a hella great playlist. Two Shums up.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate. It seems that melancholic music is all that I own. If it isn't heart wrenching, I won't hear it.
